JL MARINE SYSTEMS, Inc. – A COMPANY WHO INVESTS IN OUR FUTURE..
We are very lucky to have the natural resources mother earth is so graciously providing us. Unfortunately we have all fallen short of trying to do our part in preserving her. This year at ICAST, one of my partners, JL Marine Systems, Inc., maker of Power-Pole, has made the conscious effort to be part of the difference and not the cause. Green Marine ISO 32 hydraulic fluid is specifically designed to resist moisture, oxidation and rusting in both fresh and sea water environments – passing both the A and B Sequences of the ASTM D-665 Turbine Oil Rust Test. In a nut shell this means, the product is safe for our environment. The immediate press release is attached below. I encourage all of you to support the efforts and development that JL Marine Systems, Inc. has provided us, I know I will!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 15th

100% Biodegradable Green Marine™ ISO 32 Hydraulic Oil Now included free with every Power-Pole©

JL Marine Systems, Inc. of Tampa introduces another breakthrough for boaters and anglers with its new Green Marine™ ISO 32 hydraulic fluid that provides operating performance exceeding petroleum-based fluids, yet has the distinct advantage of protecting valuable marine environments. After establishing its very popular Power-Pole® Shallow Water Anchor, JL Marine is now helping boaters preserve natural eco-systems while assuring high performance of their hydraulic systems.

The anti-wear Green Marine ISO 32 hydraulic fluid is specifically designed to resist moisture, oxidation and rusting in both fresh and sea water environments – passing both the A and B Sequences of the ASTM D-665 Turbine Oil Rust Test. "Green Marine ISO 32 performs exceptionally well in the toughest marine applications," states John Oliverio, President of JL Marine Systems, "and at the same time, it provides boat owners with the confidence that their favorite lakes and water ways will not be damaged or degraded by leaks from petroleum-based hydraulic fluids. This unique breakthrough provides performance, protection and preservation to those who want to green their boat."

This new biodegradable hydraulic fluid saves energy, lowers green-house emissions, assures maintenance reliability and reduces dependence on foreign petroleum – "it’s a 4-way winner," says Oliverio. Green Marine ISO 32 is domestically grown from non-genetically modified organisms (non-GMO’s) and is not subject to petroleum’s price and supply uncertainty. Our loyal customers are very dedicated toward maintaining a safe, pollution-free environment for marine life, keeping their boating equipment in top condition and keeping operating cost under control. In addition to providing the above benefits, Green Marine ISO 32 emits no harmful Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) and is non-flammable – thereby improving boater safety and peace of mind.

"Boats today have multiple hydraulic systems, all with the potential to leak toxic fluids, not just in the open sea but in the most pristine and sensitive areas where fishermen fish and fish live. Our new line of biodegradable and renewable lubricants performs like synthetics," Oliverio states, "and it’s non-toxic to fish". This has great appeal to avid anglers who want to see fish and other marine life thrive and not be threatened by potential hydraulic fluid loss or leaks. Green Marine ISO 32 exceeds our demanding performance standards, while improving the environmental impact of sport fishing, so JL Marine will now include, at no additional cost, this marine-friendly hydraulic fluid with every new Power-Pole.

Our long-term goal is to dramatically reduce the amount of petroleum products needed to properly operate the various hydraulic systems used in boats today. Fishermen appreciate the fact that our Power Pole system practically eliminates the negative impact that traditional anchors can have on sensitive bottoms. By using Green Marine ISO 32 fluids, boaters can enhance their dedication toward preserving the breeding, feeding and living habitats of fish and other marine organisms. "We believe that you must protect what you have in order to assure a better future," states Oliverio.

MOSSDALE BOATS – SEMINARS AND MORE..
The Owners of Mossdale boats (Tim Glines, and Steve West) and I have had several discussions on bringing something new and fresh to the central valley for our anglers. The concept of seminar speaking has always been a main-stay here in our industry with informative demonstrations on lures and techniques. We are in the development stages of a much broader avenue in which we will have professionals and outboard technicians instructing on several topics outside the circle of just how to catch fish. This is truly going to be very exciting.

The current dates have not yet been solidified, but are soon to be announced. The preliminary discussions have included a once a month evening social that will include BBQ and event. Please check back for dates.

See you all there.

POWELL RECOGNIZES THE TIMES AND HELPS US OUT..
Well it's no secret about the new low pricing of Powell rods. Many anglers are wondering why Keith Bryan (CEO, Owner of Powell Co.) decided to drop the pricing of their entire rod line-up. Prior to the announcement, Keith Bryan asked me what I thought about a re-structure of the current lineup. Initially I felt like it might raise red flags as to why he would do something like this. That thought didn't last long however. I realized after our discussion that this was a genuine gesture from a man who sincerely cares about the industry. Currently Powell has outstanding sales across the US, and now this would only increase more volume for the retailers. Here where the industry is raising prices on materials, Keith Bryan unselfishly decided to go the road less traveled. I'm very proud to be associated with such a great company, and more importantly happy to say that our partnership together has grown for the both of us. Be sure to take advantage of the great pricing Powell has set for everyone. Below is a copy of the press release.

PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release: June 25, 2008
Powell Rods Announces New Lower Pricing Structure on Powell Max Bass Rods

Novato, Calif. – As the cost of living seems to increase daily and retail prices continue to climb nationwide, the burden of those increased costs land squarely on the shoulder of the consumer. The fishing industry is no different, as prices of goods have steadily climbed in recent history.

Powell Rods knows that increased costs can have an effect on an angler's ability to enjoy their pastime and the company has taken steps to help alleviate some of the pressure brought on by rising costs.

Immediately Powell Rods will institute a new, lower retail price on all of their popular Powell Max Bass Rods. The new price points will be $139.99 for all rods seven feet and shorter, while all rods longer than seven feet will retail for $169.99.

Keith Bryan, President of Powell Rods, said that the new pricing structure is the result of working with current suppliers to procure materials and components with the long run in mind. "Our Powell Max bass rods are made with the highest quality components, and that is not going to change," Bryan said. "Our suppliers have worked with us to produce the best available pricing on long term partnerships, and we want to pass on the benefit to the consumer."

Bryan wanted to stress the fact that nothing in the product line would be changing, other than the reduced price. "All of our premium quality components will remain the same, from our blanks, guides, reel seats and handles," noted Bryan. "We are doing this to thank our customers for the success of our brand, and make it easier for them to enjoy the sport they love with great equipment.

"At Powell, we have worked long and hard to be innovative and right now that means going against the grain when it comes to setting our price points; we are doing our best to work for our customers," Bryan said.

Powell Rods can be found at retailers across the country, talk to your dealer about the highest quality, most affordable rods available. With 47 models, Powell's Max product line has something for any angler, from seasoned professional to the weekend angler; these rods will perform for all. Now it is easier for everyone to experience Powell Max quality.

Powell Rods is a 98 year-old company with its roots in fly-fishing. In 2005, Powell introduced their Max Series of fishing rods featuring proprietary high modulus graphite Maxumfiber blank material coupled with the world's highest quality rod building components.

Each Powell rod is the product of many years of rod building experience and the expertise of our design team that couples engineering and angler input; the result is a rod of exceptional quality and high performance demanded by anglers. THE CTT IS HERE..
Many months go Bob Kornhauser (owner of 100% Bass), asked me to assist him with a new concept for us northern California anglers. After many hours of discussion, interviews, and data gathering, I feel Bob has a great product for us. My role for the most part was to be a resource for Bob and provide feedback on certain criteria of the tournament logistics. Marketing for the events will be driven by Bob but developed on my side. A new brochure is soon to reach many of the tackle shops and marinas near you.

The California Team Tour is a new and exciting format for Pro Team Fishing. With the high cost of travel, Pro fishing is changing and the CTT will offer a way to compete at the highest levels of Tournament Bass Fishing over a 2 day format, yet still allow contestants a way to save on expenses and get a high rate of return when finishing in the money. This new and exciting TOUR will include 5 lakes (Shasta, Oroville, McClure, Clear Lake and The Delta) over mostly a winter schedule that doesn't conflict with other trails, and allows the angler to expand their choices.

Some of the advantages of the CTT will be a limited field of 60 teams, creating a small but elite field of competitors vying for a first place prize of $10,000*. At the same time the field will receive a 1 in 4 payback, paying deeper than any other local pro trail where 15th place receives their $1000 entry fee back. The grand prize at seasons end will be a no entry fee championship event, currently scheduled for Clear Lake, that includes a fully rigged BassCat Boat for the winners and nearly $50,000* in cash for the other top finishers. Also in this incredible year end event, will be the awarding of the Anglers of the Year prize of $10,000**.

For complete details about this Tour, Please watch our website as new things will arrive weekly at www.100percentbass.com.
